Hitachi ZX 890-7 Excavator DCU Removal & Installation Guide

This post show you guide on how to remove and install DCU for Hitachi ZX890-7 excavator.

Removal of DCU
1. Set the machine position for inspection and maintenance. (Refer to Preparation before Inspection and Maintenance in the separate Workshop Manual.)
2. IMPORTANT
Set the key switch to the OFF position. Wait 5 minute or longer, and then set battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.Set the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Removal of ECM

Hitachi ZX890-7 Excavator 5-Volt Circuit Voltage and Current Measurement

Turn on the switches so that the specified voltage (current) is supplied to the location to be measured. Judge if the circuit is normal by evaluating whether the measured voltage (current) matches the specification.

• Voltage between terminal #1 and body (two- or three-polarities): Disconnect the connector with the key switch in the OFF position. Measure voltage between terminal #1 (5-V power source) of the body harness end connector and the body (ground).
• Key Switch: ON Position
• Black (negative) terminal on tester: To the body (to ground)
• Red (positive) terminal on tester: Terminal #1

Measured voltage is specified voltage: Section up to #1 terminal is normal if 5±0.5 V




Voltage between terminal #3 and body (three-polarities): Disconnect the connector with the key switch in the OFF position. Measure voltage between terminal #3 (5-V power source) of the body harness end connector and the body (ground).
• Key Switch: ON Position
• Black (negative) terminal on tester: To the body (to ground)
• Red (positive) terminal on tester: Terminal #3
Measured voltage is specified voltage: Section up to #3 terminal is normal if 5±0.5 V.

Voltage between terminal #1 and grounding terminal (two- or three-polarities): Set the key switch to the OFF position and disconnect the connector. Measure voltage between terminal #1 (5-V power source) on the body harness end connector and the ground terminal (terminal #2 for two-polarity or terminal #3 for three-polarity connector).
• Key Switch: ON Position
• Black (negative) probe terminal of circuit tester: To ground terminal (Terminal #2 or #3)
• Red (positive) probe terminal of circuit tester: Terminal #1
If the measuring voltage is within 5 ± 0.5 volts, the circuit up to terminal #1 and the ground terminal (terminal #2 or #3) is normal.






Voltage between terminal #3 and grounding terminal (three-polarities): Set the key switch to the OFF position and disconnect the connector. Measure voltage between terminal #3 (5-V power source) on the body harness end connector and the ground terminal (terminal #1).
• Key Switch: ON Position
• Black (negative) probe terminal of circuit tester: To ground terminal (Terminal #1)
• Red (positive) probe terminal of circuit tester: Terminal #3
The circuit up to ground terminal (Terminal #1) is normal.
